nursery-worker-5Acorn Childcare began as a single nursery in 1989 in the village of Castlethorpe, near Milton Keynes, where the organisation is still managed by the founder – and now Chief Executive – Zoë Raven.

It is our vision:

  • To create a sustainable, ethical group of nurseries
  • To continually reinvest and improve what we do
  • To lead the field in early years, particularly in outdoor play and learning, as well as staff development

We are now a not-for-profit organisation and have 10 nurseries across Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire, as well as a variety of out-of-school clubs and Forest Schools – an exciting, outdoor educational experience for children, held in woodland settings.

Zoë is supported by a friendly and professional team of people who all share her passion for providing the very best individual care for children.

We believe that childcare needs a personal touch and our nurseries reflect this. They offer individuality with a family-friendly feel, combined with professionalism and quality facilities. To offer the flexibility of a homely setting, we restrict the size of our nurseries.

Acorn places a strong emphasis on the professional development of our early years practitioners and we always encourage a learning culture throughout the organisation.

Outdoor learning and creative play are key features in everything we do and our not-for-profit ‘ethos’ means that the needs of the children come first, all of the time.

We have lots of exciting plans for the future and are always on the lookout for passionate people to be a part of them. We are regularly evolving our training for colleagues and more nurseries are planned – it is also our ambition to further develop the nursery environments and extend our Forest Schools provision.

By joining Acorn Childcare, you can look forward to many years of organic growth and development, as a striving and ambitious not-for-profit organisation.
