Welcome to Acorn Childcare
As one of the most established providers of nurseries and childcare in Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire, Acorn Childcare has over 25 years’ experience operating nurseries, out-of-school clubs and Forest Schools. Acorn Childcare is a not-for-profit organisation, meaning the children’s needs come first.
We operate a number of nurseries across Milton Keynes and Northamptonshire. Providing a homely setting with an emphasis on healthy food and outdoor play, we work hard to ensure the children’s well-being is at the heart of everything we do.Find a nursery

There are very few careers that give people such satisfaction as a career in childcare. With great benefits, competitive salaries and funding for training, we offer fantastic opportunities for people passionate about childcare with a personal touch. What we do
At Acorn Childcare, we’ve designed our fees to be straightforward, easy to understand and transparent. Our fees are inclusive and you won’t be charged extra for any of the following:
- All inclusive fees, including all food, baby milk, nappies and wipes
- Freshly-prepared meals
- Forest Schools sessions
- A variety of fun activities
All of our nurseries follow the same set of menus, all carefully planned to ensure that they are nutritionally-balanced, tasty and appealing to children. Where possible, our ingredients are fresh, locally and ethically-sourced and of a high quality.Read about our catering
‘Putting children first’ is one way we sum-up the ethos in our nurseries. We have developed the following core values which all our staff follow and work to achieve:
We aim to balance the need to be consistent in our practice, allowing nurseries to develop their own individuality and we have a cluster-type structure, with no nursery more than half an hour away from another, and all nurseries within an hour’s drive from our Central Support Office. No policy is set in stone, as they are all reviewed at least annually to ensure that we remain at the forefront of childcare excellence.
Above all, we aim to recruit staff with a genuine love of children, and we value experience and maturity as much as energy and enthusiasm, as we believe the best staff teams have a balance of personalities and abilities. We also have a team of staff in our Central Support Office who provide administrative and specialist support to each of the nurseries, enabling the staff to spend time with the children, not on paperwork.
Acorn Childcare: A day with us
This short film features footage showing what children get up to in a typical day at our nurseries. Filmed from the children’s perspective – and across several sites – it shows the day through their eyes and the world as they see it, as well as some of the many activities they take part in and the style of play they choose to be a part of.
Acorn Childcare will be closed on Thursday 24th December...
